Ever since beginning my career in the non-profit sector, there has been that constant need for always wanting to do more. I could simply go to work, answer 50+ emails, return phone calls and head home for the day. But is that truly rewarding? Of course not. In the past ten months I have successfully planned a large-scale charity gala and 3 subsequent events. Bringing in a total of a quarter of a million dollars to the organization. Never would I imagine numbers like that.
In my 24 years of existence, there have been a few special moments in my life that I will treasure. Saying that I brought in a $15,000 grant to an organization who hasn’t had one in five years is definitely something to be proud of. At least ten new tutors can be brought on board which means around 80 more students can be added to our Educational Tutoring Program.
I’ve never been so excited when someone asks me what I’ve done as a Program Director for the Bridges of Light Foundation. In life we always search to do more and to feel accomplished. I’m still on cloud nine, but I’m searching for the next big thing to take on.
