Memorial Day Weekend I was given the opportunity to go on a four day, three night cruise to the Bahamas and Castaway Cay aboard the Disney Dream! I have been on two Royal Caribbean cruises thus far, but a Disney cruise is truly like no other. Arriving at the Port, we were greeted immediately by Mickey Mouse with a quick line to check in and get our “keys to the world!” The cruise ship was absolutely beautiful with three themed restaurants, a full theater, and a pool deck complete with a full-speed waterslide.
As soon as we pulled away from the port, all of the characters came together for a sail away party which brought the excitement to everyone young and old. The food was incredible and the rooms were spacious with plenty of room for activities.
The characters were in full force and almost at every turn and being 24 years old, I definitely had as much fun (if not more) than all of the children on the boat. I was a first-timer on a Disney Cruise and I definitely racked up some tips along the way that I thought I would share:
- Definitely bring on-board decorations for your cabin door. You can search for ones already made on Etsy for purchase or you can easily make your own! I’ve seen a lot of ideas on Pinterest and it’s a fun way for your family to get into the Disney spirit!
- Make sure to pack your Pirate gear! The second to last night on the boat is Pirate themed and feel free to go all out for this! Wear your outfits to dinner and make sure to catch the Firework display and Pirate Party out on the deck at night!
- Try everything! At dinner each night, there are many options for appetizers, entrees, and dessert, so feel free to try new foods that maybe you haven’t before. The food was amazing and the service of the dining staff was impeccable.
- Take pictures with the characters. A no-brainer if you’d ask me! There always around, typically before and after dinner so make sure to grab a photo each night. The best part is, the cast member that is with the character is more than happy to take a photo on your own camera or mobile phone! Two thumbs up!
- Don’t leave without a souvenir! We all know Disney gear can be pretty pricey, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip so grab a tee shirt or a beach towel and you’ll be glad you did.
I can’t express how much fun I had aboard the Disney Dream, definitely 5 Mickey Mouse hands out of 5 for me!
